The Story

Madhu, a 1 year and 2 months old girl, presented a severe case of under-nutrition in November, with her weight at 8.0 kg and her critical MUAC reading at a low 5.0 cm. Her health needed a steady, reliable intervention. The Shishu Bhojan Initiative meals provided exactly that. Madhu’s story became a textbook example of consistent, uninterrupted recovery, thanks to the program and strong caregiver engagement at home. Unlike many children who showed a burst of growth followed by a plateau, Madhu’s progress was perfectly linear, gaining exactly 1 kg every single month. By February, Madhu’s total weight gain was an impressive +3.0 kg, and her height increased by +9 cm. Most importantly, her MUAC had improved by +1.0 cm, moving her out of the critical risk zone.
